Welcome To
The team at Attachment and Trauma Therapy provide a warm, positive and family-oriented style, allowing children, teens, and families a safe place to work through their challenges. Our areas of focus include adoption, attachment, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), depression, sensory processing disorder (SPD), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), selective mutism, and trauma.
Our therapists use the latest research in play therapy, neurobiology, trauma, and attachment theory to inform our treatment. We draw from experts in the field including Dr. Bruce Perry, Dan Siegel, Karyn Purvis, Heather Forbes, Ana Gomez and Dan Hughes.
Play and playful interaction always undergird therapy to create a sense of safety that allows a child or teen to feel comfortable processing their challenges in life whether they are struggling with hard emotions like anxiety or depression, family conflicts, or other mental health issues.
We believe collaboration with parents is essential for the child’s healing. At our office, parents will be informed every step of the way. Parents are often invited to participate as a therapeutic presence for their child. The deep, emotional connection between the parent and child can be a powerful agent for healing. At times, it may be appropriate for the child to meet with the therapist individually. In such cases, the therapist will provide general updates on progress while maintaining the child or teen’s privacy.
