Joyce brings kindness and warmth to every child she sees. She loves to support families navigate through challenging waters and help them find a calm sea.
From the time she was a very young child growing up in Chicago, Illinois, Joyce knew that she had a calling to work with children and their families. A ministry assignment eventually brought her family to Kansas City; she quickly discovered that this was a wonderful place to call home, a wonderful place to plant roots, and a wonderful place to for me to dive into my life’s work.
Joyce began her career in Early Childhood Education. As her children grew older, she took on greater job responsibilities such as directing a non-profit organization and establishing new early childhood programs in the urban community. Her work eventually led to the decision to work with the entire family. To accomplish this goal, she returned to school in 2002 to earn a master’s degree in social work from the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
Joyce has since provided therapeutic services to children through the Division of Family Services. She later moved out of direct practice and took an administrative role in a community mental health agency in Kansas. She currently provides supervision and training to case managers, therapists and interns in addition to providing therapy for children and teens.
